Speaking during the first 2020 Democratic presidential debate, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York said Democrats need to “stop playing defense and start playing offense,” when it comes to fighting for abortion rights. Gillibrand, who has made a name for herself as a leader on women’s issues, said it was “mind-boggling” that Democrats were debating whether women should have access to reproductive rights in 2019. She promised as president she would guarantee women’s reproductive rights “no matter what.” Footage courtesy: NBC News Stream your PBS favorites with the PBS app: https://to.pbs.org/2Jb8twG Find more from PBS NewsHour at https://www.pbs.org/newshour Subscribe to our YouTube channel: https://bit.ly/2HfsCD6 Follow us: Facebook: http://www.pbs.org/newshour Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/newshour Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/newshour Snapchat: @pbsnews Subscribe: PBS NewsHour podcasts: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/podcasts Newsletters: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/subscribe
